What is Foundation in Arts?

Foundation in Arts in Malaysia can be pursued by students who have graduated with SPM, O Level or Year 11 qualification. This pre-university programme has continuous assessments, where the final grade is awarded from a combination of examinations and coursework.

This programme provides students with a firm base in relevant Art subjects such as communication, language and design. Students who are certain to pursue an undergraduate degree in these fields will benefit from having a focused approach to their pre-university programme.

As each programme is set by the university it is administered from, it is only recognised in its own university and some other local private universities. Thus, while students can and often do switch institutions after their foundations, it is strongly recommended that students choose to study this course in the same university they plan to pursue their undergraduate study.

How is Foundation in Arts structured?

Students can expect a 50% of coursework (quizzes, presentations) and 50% examinations. The ratio of marks allocated to examinations and coursework differ from one university to the other.
